FINALIZACIÓN PROYECTO ERASMUS+ K229 ECHO: "European Culture and History Outlines”

Nuestro proyecto Erasmus+ KA229 toca a su fin en este 2020, y no queríamos darlo por concluido sin compartir con vosotros la experiencia que nos ha permitido vivir.

    Desde que este proyecto, al que decidió llamarse “ECHO: European Culture and History Outlines”, comenzó en 2018, han sido muchas las experiencias que hemos vivido y compartido con otros cuatro países que han formado parte de éste; Grecia, Italia, Chipre y Portugal decidieron unirse y formar parte de esta idea, cuyo principal objetivo era aprender sobre las diferentes etapas históricas, y cómo todos y cada uno de los países involucrados en el proyecto vivieron cada una de ellas. Al mismo tiempo, nos dimos cuenta de que era una buena forma de hacer que nuestros alumnos echasen la vista atrás, que valorasen nuestro pasado y la herencia histórica y cultural que nos ha dejado. Para llevar a cabo esta empresa, nada mejor que visitar cada uno de los lugares implicados, compartir con sus gentes y vivir de primera mano aquello que pretendíamos que nuestros alumnos aprendiesen.

     La primera vez que nuestros alumnos se reunieron con el resto de sus compañeros europeos fue en diciembre de 2018. Durante una semana, visitaron la ciudad italiana de Todi, donde fueron recibidos y acogidos por alumnos de la localidad y sus respectivas familias, que,sin duda, consiguieron que todos se sintieran como en casa. El tema para esta primera movilidad era el “Imperio Romano”, y tanto alumnos como profesores de los cinco países participantes pudieron compartir todo lo que habían aprendido sobre este periodo en cada uno de sus respectivos países.

     Después de Italia, la segunda movilidad llevó a un nuevo grupo de alumnos de nuestro Centro a Grecia, en concreto, a la maravillosa ciudad de Atenas. Era marzo de 2019, y una vez más, las familias locales acogieron a los alumnos que llegaban de los otros cuatro países miembros del proyecto. Junto con sus profesores, compartieron todo lo que habían aprendido sobre la “Edad Media”, visitaron lugares históricos que reflejaban esa herencia cultural que está en la base de nuestro proyecto, y como no, disfrutaron de la vida y de la cultura griega durante una semana.

     Tan sólo dos meses más tarde, en Mayo de ese mismo año, Almagro se convirtió en la localidad que recibiría y acogería a nuestros compañeros llegados de Grecia, Italia, Chipre y Portugal. Durante toda una semana, nuestros alumnos y sus familias trataron de hacer que todos se sintiesen como en casa, mientras compartían el trabajo realizado sobre el “Renacimiento y la época de los grandes descubrimientos”.

     El 2019 terminó con una nueva movilidad para nuestros alumnos. Esta vez, fue la ciudad portuguesa de Calda da Rainha la encargada de preparar una semana de actividades relacionadas, en este caso, con “La Ilustración”. Como en el resto de los países, las familias de acogida hicieron todo lo posible para que los asistentes disfrutasen de su estancia, y volviesen a casa cargados de nuevas vivencias y recuerdos.

Our Erasmus+ project is coming to an end, and we would like to share with you the wonderful experience we have lived.

Many things have taken place since this project started in 2018. Together with our school, Greece, Portugal, Italy and Cyprus decided to share this experience that was called “ECHO: European Culture and History Outlines”, and whose main aim was to learn about different stages in history and how they were experienced in all the countries involved in the project. At the same time, we found a way  to make  our students aware of the importance of looking back to our past heritage and to value the environment that surrounds us.

The first time our students met their European partners was in December 2018. During a week, they visited the city of Todi and were hosted by Italian students and their families. The topic for that first mobility was The Roman Empire, and both students and teachers could share knowledge and information about how this period developed in  all the countries involved.

After Italy, the second mobility took our students to Greece, in particular, to the wonderful city of Athens. It was March 2019, and once more, local families welcomed students from the other four countries. Together with their teachers, they learnt about The Middle Ages, visited different historical sites and enjoyed the life and the culture of Greece.

Only two months later, in May, Almagro was the host town that would welcome our partners from Italy, Greece, Portugal and Cyprus. During a whole week, our students and their families tried to make them feel at home while we all learnt about Renaissance and The Age of Discoveries.

The year 2019 ended with a new mobility for our students. This time was the Portuguese city of Caldas da Rainha the one that organised a week of activities related to The Enlightenment. As in the rest of the countries, the local families made their best to make eveyone feel comfortable.

The last time our students had the chance of meeting their partners from the other countries was in April 2020. Unfortunately, the general sanitary alert caused by COVID-19, made it imposible for Greek and Italian partners to travel to the city of Paphos, in Cyprus. The topic for this last mobility was the National Identity and the Europena Citizenship. Although our students were able to travel to Cyprus, they couldn´t complete the whole week there due to worsening of the situation, and they had to say goodbye to their mates before they would have wanted to.

If we think back now, after those two years of working and sharing experiences with people from different countries, there seems to be no doubt that every single effort we have done is worth it. This project has given our students the option of learning, sharing, experiencing, and growing personally, and all of them are looking forward to living such an experience once again.
